Abstract
In the field of KFL/KSL education, studies on errors or correction of errorsoccurring in learners' speaking and writing have been actively conducted, butthere are not many studies on miscue patterns in oral reading performance. This study was a longitudinal study conducted in four rounds. By using themiscues analysis, we analyzed the oral reading performance of a Chinese Koreanspeaker Mr. H, and analyzed the self-correction patterns and causes that occurduring the reading process. As a result, in the case of Mr. H, it is possible to self-correct more than half ofthe miscues while monitoring his own oral reading performance. Secondly, as aresult of the post-interview, the miscues that Mr. H can actively correct can beclassified into four categories: phonetic miscues, grammatical miscues, semanticmiscues, and additive miscues. Thirdly, for Mr. H, most of the miscues withoutself-correction are unconscious misreading due to negligence, and this miscue hasa high character or phonetic similarity with the original text. Fourthly, mothertongue and personal reading habits can affect miscue and self-correction. Lastly,in this study, text genre and vocabulary difficulty, in theory, had no significanteffect on miscues. Although this study has a limitation that it is difficult togeneralize the results, it is expected to give implications on the experimentaldesign of the miscues analysis and the pattern and cause of miscue correction asseveral longitudinal studies.
