초록
The purpose of this paper is to suggest how to convey information on the argument alternations of verbs including NP-wa to foreign learners through learners’ dictionaries. This paper examines the NP-wa argument alternation based on the results of previous studies of the NP-wa argument alternation and the UpropBank provided by Ulsan University’s Korean Language Processing Lab. In addition, the limitations of a standard Korean dictionary and learners’ dictionaries were identified regarding the information they provided on the argument alternation. This paper classifies the NP-wa argument alternation into seven categories: NP-wa-ro, NP-wa-ro-e, NP-wa-e, NP-wa-e-ro, NP-wa-eul, NP-wa-eul-e, and NP-wa-eseo, and common semantic features were extracted for each type of alternation. Such argument alternations are frequently found in Korean, and since each frame of the alternation represents a different interpretation of a scene, they must convey differences in meaning that should be described in learners’ dictionaries.
