Poem of Blank Space: Between Going and Coming

초록

Through the midtwentieth century, when the identity of the world and self was true, poets seek new expression and language. The new poetic work begins with a blank space to accommodate the outside through training of returning to nothing by defining oneself. The blank space, which is the unique screen composition of Oriental paintings, is an empty space in the screen. The painted and unpainted things(empty spaces) diffuse the meaning space through the action of mutually ventilating each other, rather than settling for the way things are. The blank space, a pictorial and spatial concept, appears in the poem as a void of an external description through the abstraction of emotion and the omission of sentences. As a result, things spoken and unspoken face each other. Kim Jongsam and Kim Chunsoo show similarities in poetry as poets who possessed the consciousness of contemporary problems. The poetry of the two poets is juxtaposed and is in harmony with the description of the external world and the abstraction as the subject. Thus, their poetic work of returning to nothing does not result in nihilism, and it is summarized as trying to establish a relationship with the world at the maximum while limiting himself to the minimum. It is neither the language of the world through self, nor the reproduction of the outside world as it is, through the work which empties without leaving. It is a place where the outside and the inside penetrate and function as emptying and filling sound at the same time. Language is constantly about to return to the representation of self. The paths of the two poets lie beyond the language of identity to the sound between speaking here and coming from beyond. The beauty of blank space is that the reality(physics) and ideas(psychology) breathe, not blank space.
