초록
Structural retrofitting has become a key strategy in decarbonisation efforts within the construction sector. High-performance fibre-reinforced cementitious composites (HPFRCCs) have emerged as promising retrofitting materials due to their superior mechanical performance and durability. This study investigates the effectiveness of two types of HPFRCC – ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) and high-performance strain-hardening cementitious composites (HPSHCC) – for retrofitting reinforced concrete (RC) columns subjected to varying levels of transverse reinforcement. To evaluate the improvements provided by the retrofitting systems, the resulting failure modes were compared and the experimentally measured global and local strain responses were examined. To further characterise the contributions of the retrofits, the behaviour associated with cover spalling, the analytically derived confined core response, and the post-peak deformability were also analysed. To this end, this study provide insights into the confinement efficiency of the HPFRCC retrofits and their influence on the overall ductility and toughness of retrofitted columns relative to conventional RC columns. Finally, the applicability of existing design code provisions is assessed for predicting the cross-sectional compressive resistance of the HPFRCC-retrofitted columns investigated in this study.
