초록
In Caroline Kepnes’ novel You, the protagonist, Joe Goldberg, a bookstore owner, perceives himself as the main character in the story of his life and becomes obsessed with a woman he deems worthy to be the love interest of his neurotic narrative. While previous analyses of the novel have explored themes such as love, obsession, and stalking, this study aims to offer a fresh perspective by framing reading and writing as a visceral and sensory experience. This pursuit seeks to unravel how this corporeal narrative functions as a lens to explore the semiotization of the body and the somatization of the narrative through the intersection between fiction and reality. This exploration challenges existing interpretations of literature, identity, and relationships, particularly within a society marked by voyeurism, scopophilia, social performance and hyperdigitalization. By unraveling power dynamics over the body, I intend to offer insights that extend beyond literature, intersecting with phenomenology, behaviorist studies, and biopolitics.
