Determinants of Local Government Trust : Focusing on Awareness of Regional Change and Vitalization of the Social Economy

초록

Government trust is formed through citizens' expectations of the government's role and evaluation of policies, and unlike the central government, local government trust varies depending on policy enforcement and regional characteristics. This study focuses on locality and empirically analyzes how trust of local governments depends on residents' perceptions of regional change and the revitalization of the social economy that creates economic and social values for the region. According to the analysis, the perception of revitalizing the local economy, social capital and social innovation all increase the trust of local governments. On the other hand, the more the social economy is activated, the lower the trust of local governments. Also, people who know the social economy do not trust local governments as the social economy becomes more active. Therefore, local governments need to make policy changes to revitalize the local economy and practice social capital formation and social innovation through the participation of local residents. In addition, the design of effective social and economic policies is required to raise awareness of the social economy and create positive values for the region through continuous policy promotion.
