- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to comparatively analyze the discourse marker functions and usage patterns of Korean ‘Keureonde(그런데)’. To this end, we have focused on the conversations of Korean native speakers, through which the Korean native speakers reveal what functions they use ‘Keureonde(그런데)’, and in Korean education for foreigners, ‘Keureonde(그런데)’ The appearance was compared and analyzed using a corpus of textbooks. According to the results, the use of ‘Keureonde(그런데)’ in public conversation was used frequently to continue the conversation, and was used to express opinions contrary to the content of the other speaker. Also, in private conversation, it is used to speak consciously only on the content of one's own utterance, and it is mainly used to explain the utterances that follow. But, in textbooks, the content of the discourse function, which does not establish a relationship between topics, is also included compared to conversation. This study is significant in that it looked at the colloquial function of ‘Keureonde(그런데)’ through the analysis of the colloquial language and the corpus of Korean textbooks that can see the actual language
