Abstract
This study explores the influence of grooved walls on turbulent Taylor-Couette flow with heat transfer. We perform direct numerical simulations of Taylor-Couette flows using the velocity-decoupled projection method in a cylindrical coordinate system. A slip, yet impermeable boundary condition is considered at the interface of the grooved walls. The findings suggest that the grooved wall instigates a circumferential velocity at the interface, which significantly enhances the convective heat transfer, leading to an overall increase of up to 5.4%.
